The first fight of the evening was over within the first minute of the 1st round. A combination of hooks and jabs was enough to push Rajiv into a corner and wincing in pain from the few blows that he received. Referee Ravinder did not need to see any further to call the fight in favour of Raj Baghel. TKO in the 51st second of the 1st round
BOUT 1 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 2nd fight of the night between Gaurav and Pawan Saxena went the whole distance of 8 rounds, however Gaurav was clearly a better boxer and had a clear measure of Pawan right from the 1st round. Weaving and ducking while landing clear upper cuts and hooks, Gaurav dominated the entire fight. It is a wonder why he didn’t attempt to go for a KO rather than using combination punches to keep Pawan at Bay. In the end it was a Unanimous decision in favour of Gaurav.
BOUT 2 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 3rd fight was a mismatched fight between Varsha Rani in the Red Corner against a much superior boxer Kamaljeet Kaur in the Blue corner. Kamaljeet looked as she was at a mitt practice and the Referee Vinod Saini rightly called the fight a Technical KO at the completion of a minute in favour of Kamaljeet.
BOUT 3 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 4th fight of the night saw Dharmender paired opposite Manjeet. While the initial rounds were slow to begin with, Dharmender picked up a little bit more pace to get into his groove by the 3rd and 4th round. He was easily slipping and weaving while Manjeet had his guard up all through the 8 rounds. The Judges had a easy decision to make and the fight was rightly declared Unanimous in favour of Dharmender
BOUT 4 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 5th fight of the evening was a much more evenly matched fight. The fight went the entire 6 rounds with both boxers quick on their feet and able to duck and weave at ease. On the entirety Mahesh was able to land a lot more hooks and jabs. The Judges scored all 6 rounds Unanimously in favour of Mahesh Yadav.
BOUT 5 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 6th fight of the evening was a cautious contest with both boxers refusing to let their guards down. The early rounds saw both the boxers measuring each others movements with Jabs and hooks. Neither was willing to commit themselves into a full blown challenge. The mood persisted throughout the 6 rounds. It can only be said that Sachin Rohillas experience shone and was able to pick of quick punches and slip away from assaults launched by Kuldeep. Maybe the strategy applied was to conserve energy and look for openings in the guard. In the end the decision split between the Judges and 2 of them favoured Sachin Rohila and declared him the winner on their cards
BOUT 6 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 7th fight in the Super Light Weight category between Shivam and Gyan Prakash was a more evenly matched contest. Both Boxers started slow and tried to take measure of their opponents and strategies before going on the offensive. Gyan was more inclined to throw lunging punches while maintaining distance, on the other hand Shivam resorted to combination punches and slipping away. Shivam looked more at ease and agile throughout the 4 rounds and kept throwing hooks and cuts keeping Gyan busy defending. The scores went to the Judges and 2 Judges scored unanimously in favour of Shivam while the 3rd Judge declared the fight a draw. Shivam Was declared the winner with a Majority Decision.
BOUT 7 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 8th fight in the cruiser weight division promised a lot of action. 18 year old Prince took on 25 year Naveen Verma. Prince was fresh off the back of a victory in his last fight a fortnight ago at New Delhi. The Referee had to intervene early in round 1 to caution both boxers on clinching and brawling. Even though Prince was almost a foot shorter, he was the more aggressive and attempting to charge at Naveen. As in all Heavy weight contests, the fight looks slower but the punches are harder and a lot of energy dissipation occurs during these fights. In the 3rd Round, Prince received a cut on his nose and the Referee had to take advice from the Doc who suggested that fight should not continue. The scores were close at the end of Round 3 but the decision of TKO owing to medical stoppage in favour of Naveen Verma summed up the fight.
BOUT 8 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 9th fight in the Welter Weight division was a contest between fighters with a very similar professional record. Both were coming on the back of losses in their last fights. The fight went into the 3rd round and had to be stopped as Rizwan was unable to continue. Sahil won by TKO in the 3rd round
BOUT 9 – FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS
The 10 fight was an evenly matched contest in terms of skill levels of both boxers. While Aniket was coming into this fight on the back of a victory in his maiden outing, Manish was making his debut in this show. Aniket was the taller of the 2 boxers and used his height to throw good combinations at Manish. The fight was evenly fought and extremely close to call. This was reflected in the scores of the Judges. One judge favoured Aniket, while the 2nd the Judge favoured Manish. The third judge scored the fight a draw. The decision was a Split Draw.
