The 2nd fight of the night between Gaurav and Pawan Saxena went the whole distance of 8 rounds, however Gaurav was clearly a better boxer and had a clear measure of Pawan right from the 1st round. Weaving and ducking while landing clear upper cuts and hooks, Gaurav dominated the entire fight. It is a wonder why he didn’t attempt to go for a KO rather than using combination punches to keep Pawan at Bay. In the end it was a Unanimous decision in favour of Gaurav.

BOUT 6

OFFICIAL SCORECARD

The 6th fight of the evening was a cautious contest with both boxers refusing to let their guards down. The early rounds saw both the boxers measuring each others movements with Jabs and hooks. Neither was willing to commit themselves into a full blown challenge. The mood persisted throughout the 6 rounds. It can only be said that Sachin Rohillas experience shone and was able to pick of quick punches and slip away from assaults launched by Kuldeep. Maybe the strategy applied was to conserve energy and look for openings in the guard. In the end the decision split between the Judges and 2 of them favoured Sachin Rohila and declared him the winner on their cards

BOUT 8

OFFICIAL SCORECARD

The 8th fight in the cruiser weight division promised a lot of action. 18 year old Prince took on 25 year Naveen Verma. Prince was fresh off the back of a victory in his last fight a fortnight ago at New Delhi. The Referee had to intervene early in round 1 to caution both boxers on clinching and brawling. Even though Prince was almost a foot shorter, he was the more aggressive and attempting to charge at Naveen. As in all Heavy weight contests, the fight looks slower but the punches are harder and a lot of energy dissipation occurs during these fights. In the 3rd Round, Prince received a cut on his nose and the Referee had to take advice from the Doc who suggested that fight should not continue. The scores were close at the end of Round 3 but the decision of TKO owing to medical stoppage in favour of Naveen Verma summed up the fight.
