01 Oct 2022, Aizawl: India’s oldest Pro Boxing tournament style competition the LPS Pro Fight Championships 2022 come to a close this Friday, 30 Sep 2022. The championships this year featured 206 Fights over 30 days and threw some surprise winners and some expected outcomes.
Key results from the finals
- Vanlalwmpuia defeated HC Lalramfela by a Split Decision to win the Super Lightweight Crown
- F Zoramchanna lost to new kid on the block Lalringheta by a split Decision in the Super Bantamweight division.
- C Lalhruiatluanga continued his unbeaten run with a Majority decision win over Zomunasanga to be crowned champion in the Super Welterweight Division
- Laldinsanga won a 3 round stoppage victory over Samuel Lalthlamuana to win the Super Flyweight division.
- Lalrosangzuala won a close Majority decision win over Lalbiakdika in the Super Featherweight Division

LPS Pro Fight : A Legacy
While the LPS Pro Fight championships have been regularly hosted since 2010, the event this year can be termed as a first of its kind with the results from the Semifinal & Final bouts being registered on the global Boxing Registry Boxrec for the first time ever.
This has come as a huge fillip to the boxers from the region whose names and individual records now feature in the global boxing records database as well as helping them to move up in the Indian Pro Boxing Rankings released by the WBC India committee every month.
The championships this year were held in 5 weight categories and over 400 boxers started the campaign in the last week of August 2022. The Knockout tournament style championships featured 196 Amateur Boxing style “3-Round” bouts in the early rounds 31 Aug to 21 Sep) and stepped-up to being Professional Boxing “4- Round” competitions in the Semifinals (24 Sep & 26 Sep) and Finals (30 Sep).
The step-up to the professional boxing style included a step-up for over 12 Ring officials from the state of Mizoram who underwent a 3-day Professional Boxing Ring Officials Workshop and Certification conducted by the Indian Boxing Council before being nominated to officiate in the Semifinals and Finals of the championships.
