Fight Commentary

The first Professional Boxing fight of the evening was a 4 Round Super Featherweight contest. The bout was decided by a TKO and ended in the 2nd Round.

20 year old Hriday Saha was quick and powerful throughout the 2 rounds that the fight lasted. On the other hand, Rajasthani boxer Sushil Kumar who was fighting with a south paw stance did not look very comfortable in the ring with Saha.

The bout started with the usual gusto of a “first bout” at any championships.

Hriday Saha, threw a powerful right hook to the body in the very first round which rocked Sushil Kumar and set the tone for the fight ahead.  Sushil Kumar, received 2 knockdowns in the 2nd round prompting the referee Manoj Panwar to call an end to the fight.

Fight Commentary –

Deepanshu Satvir, came into this fight as a replacement fighter and wasn’t expected to cause an upset. But that’s exactly what he did, He shocked Saurav Saha with 2 quick knockdowns in the very 1st round.

Deepanshu, was taller and able to keep Saha at distance while counterpunching every time Saha charged with intent and heart.

Saha, suffered 2 more knockdowns in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

The final Knockdown came in the 4th round  causing referee Rahul Sharma to call an end to the fight despite feeble protests from Saurav Saha.

Fight Commentary

A lot of showboating and very little actual action can easily summarise the 4th fight of the night between Shivatma Topno and Joy Ghosh.

Joy Ghosh, who was a former State Amateur champion was undoubtedly faster in his punches and quicker on his feet while Topno looked sluggish and slow to get out of his corner today.

Joy Ghosh, was declared winner on points by Unanimous Decision by the 3 judges.

The final scores  at the end 4 rounds were 36-40, 36-40, 36-40 in favour of Joy Ghosh.

Fight Commentary

The 5th fight of the evening was a good contest that the crowd could get behind.

Md Anwar, with his guile and quick movements was able to get the better of the much taller and leaner Raj Dey in this 4 round Super Lightweight contest.

Raj Dey, looked composed and started the bout well with some good close contact boxing in Round 1 and early in Round 2. By the 3rd Round, however,  Anwar, had largely started controlling the fight. All 3 Judges scored the 3rd and 4th rounds unanimously in favour of Anwar.

MD Anwar, won by Majority Decision,

Fight Commentary

The 6th fight of the evening was a 4 Round Welterweight contest.

Abhishek Pratap Singh, was more assured in his footwork and threw his punches with some economy of effort. On the other hand, Bir Singh Guiya, was throwing his swings and hooks with gusto and elan despite not many actually landing where he intended them.

By the 4th round Bir Singh Guiya, could barely stand with his guard up let alone throwing punches for offensive action. A knockdown in the dying seconds of the 4th round was enough to seal victory for Abhishek in his first Pro Debut.

The last fight of the evening was a 4 Round Super featherweight contest.

The bout meandered along for the first 2 rounds with Dharamvir, leading on the Judges scorecards. Deepak, was a tall boxer; however, he couldn’t take advantage of his superior height.

Dharamvir, took complete control by the 3rd round and even floored Deepak twice.

Deepak, was outclassed and he knew it.
